March madness!

It has been a whirl wind March but with so many great things happening!

Upon arrival of a young man named Daniel Hawkins doing a season of service here with us, Legacy conference was in full swing!! Daniel has been a huge blessing to us at YWAM Belmopan.  Also known as "John's assistant", he is serving his heart out and we are blessed to have him with us.

Legacy was powerful in so many ways.  Speaker Andrew Willis spoke directly to the hearts of the youth in such an incredible way, encouraging them to stay under the pressure and endure the process because we, like diamonds, will come out beautiful in the end.  I think everybody came out of that weekend encouraged and refreshed.

Please continue to pray for these young people who attended that they would be able to stand strong in whatever situation they went back to in their homes, schools, work etc.

On this weekend we also celebrated Naomi's 4th birthday!  We had a Lala Loopsy party with her Legacy buddies, a great finish to a wonderful weekend!

YWAM Belmopan had 2 teams arrive the week following Legacy, one from the King's Christian School in Salmon Arm!  This was their 2nd year in Belize and we so enjoyed having them with us.  They built on many teams who have served before on our fence surrounding the property and were able to complete it!  Just the gates left to go on and it's done!  Such a big blessing!  They also went into the high schools and spoke in the classes and did a paint project at one of the schools.  We even had time to do a little 'beach ministry'.  In the face of car trouble (that's an understatement), the heat and sunburns you served and served.  Thank you guys!

The day before the team left we also jumped into YC Belize!  I know right?  Like we didn't have enough to do.  I did call this blog "March Madness" for a reason!  John was asked to be the MC and barely made it in broken down vehicles with a team of 20!  YC has been hosted in Belmopan, the capital city in the recent years, but leaders felt the need to bring it back to Belize City, the original city.  Belize city is known for it's gang violence and lack of unity in the churches.. quite a challenge for this event!  The event was a success with several local and international artists on the agenda.
Zelda Wade Hill wrote on the YC Belize facebook page: "YC 2013 was awesome! For all those, foreign and local, who made it possible, "Thank you!". God knows your heart and you know that His heart is for Belize City. Your labor is not in vain. Let's continue to pray that the rest of Belize City Churches wake up from their slumber and join the call and cry to save our youths who are dying on the streets or dying within. Their blood is on our shoulders if we don't unite and GO to the them with the only solution for all the crime and violence."

Thanks for reading!  And Happy Easter!!
