April Update

Hello friends, April has almost come to an end then we're onto May and then June rainy season!  I have to say I cannot wait for a little rain to fall on this dry land and even put out some of the fires that are burning and creating a lot of smoke.

Evangeline's 6th Birthday:

This month we celebrated our Evangeline's 6th birthday!  Is she really 6?  I can't believe it.  She is growing up so fast, almost done GRADE 1!!  Her Zebra party by the pool was everything she hoped for and I'm pretty sure she'll never forget it.. or let others forget it :)

Football Team:

John is continuing to help coach the YWAM boys football (soccer) team.  Yes, I just wrote that without even thinking of calling it soccer... I think I've lived here a LONG time :)

It has been such a great experience for him to be there doing what he loves and having the opportunity to speak into these boys lives.  The football boys are from Roaring Creek, a village that can be very rough.  In the past month there have been 2 murders there, one just outside of our Pastor, Scott Stirm's house.  It is such a valuable thing to be able to target these young boys and point them towards a hope and a future, not violence and death.  Please pray for these boys and those who are working with them.

Baby Girl's Club:

I will start by saying... God answers prayer!!  When we needed to close the studio in January of 2012, my heart broke a little.. ok a lot.  I was saddened that all of these little girls would not have dance to look forward to every week, even though I knew it was God's leading to close.  The Lord needed it to die so He could resurrect it in His time, His way.

This month we heard about Nicole.C Mullen being in Belmopan, Belize and starting a girls mentoring program.  She had been to Belize before and had seen the Destiny House at YWAM Belmopan and seemed to like the location.  Long story short, we met with her and her road manager (who has moved here) Karen, it was such a great talk and the Lord started to stir vision and purpose.  The Baby Girl's Club has now been running at the YWAM Building Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays for ages 6-18.  Although Nicole will be back and forth throughout the year, Karen, has moved here and has done an amazing job at speaking into these young girls lives.  Both ladies are gems that we are so thankful to have in Belize!

I have also been asked to teach dance and will start next Saturday!  I think I might need to start stretching?  Looking forward to getting back into it and digging in with these wonderful girls!

UNIBAM Homosexual lawsuit against Belize:

For those of you who have heard about this lawsuit in Belize, it is a HUGE deal right now and the court date is set for May 7th-10th.  We are on the FINAL stretch!  I am attaching an email from Belize Action if you are interested in reading the details of where we are at.  We must stand up and PRAY!

Belize Action Mission Statement

is for good people to do nothing!!"

"Update on Court Case

As you probably recall, the homosexual organization UNIBAM was struck out of the case, which left Caleb Orozco, as the sole claimant in the case.  Orozco is supported by the Human Dignity Trust, an international homosexual advocacy group suing over 80 nations that have laws criminalizing homosexual activity.  Belize is on that list!!

A quick overview…  The law is being defended by the Attorney General’s office, and the Churches of Belize have registered as an “interested party” in the case, fighting for our “Unnatural Act/Sodomy Law” to not change.  There’s approx. 16 attorneys involved in this case, it’s a biggie!   The actual law, Section 53 of the Criminal Code states…

“Any personal having carnal intercourse against the order of nature
with any person or any animal shall be liable to 10 years imprisonment.”

Orozco and those fighting to change the law want to remove 3 words, “any person or” from the law, leaving it to deal only with beastiality.  They claim this law violates their human dignity, human rights, and that the Govt. has no right to dictate what happens in a private consensual act.

We say the Govt has EVERY right to dictate, as they do in sexual abuse cases or incest, even though it may be “consensual.”  We also say this law doesn’t violate human dignity, IT PROTECTS HUMAN DIGNITY!!  This law has NEVER been used once to prosecute a consensual act, but virtually EVERY CASE where this law is used is against SEXUAL ABUSE situations, male on male rape, domestic violation to women, minors, and even children.

Prayer Thrust
We are sounding the TRUMPET CALL asking all churches & prayer groups to mobilize aggressively in this time.  Be praying for the attorneys representing the Church, for wisdom, sharpness, for the Supreme Court Justice presiding over the case, etc.

We’re asking all Belizeans to take this very seriously, this is a good time for us to join together in prayer, fasting, and crying out to God for our nation!!  We’re calling upon everyone to fast & pray for the days of this court case!!   We believe God for sovereign miracles in this time!!  We’ll share more of the specific plans in the coming email, but want to keep this short & to the point"

We are in serious times.  We don't take these things lightly.  God has great plans for Belize and we will stand on that.  Belize is a light on a hill for the world to see God's goodness!

Thanks for reading!
Blessings from the Georges!!
